Found in the homely suburb of Malvern in Melbourne, where a mix of both opulent period, and modern homes line every street, is this one-of-a-kind home that combines the best of both. Crafted by Design Manager Olivia Cirocco from GIA Renovations, Olivia has helped in creating a home that is sympathetic to the area, whilst retaining the qualities of a family home. Featured in this space are Super White Dolomite in the kitchen and Verde Oceania Marble in the main ensuite. Whilst quite different, these two stones work in harmony with each other, but also with the fixtures and fittings, to create rooms that are sophisticated and elegant.

As part of our Designer Collaboration Series, CDK Stone’s Architectural Sales Consultant Tim Lawrence took a deeper look into this breath-taking property with Olivia. Being the lead on this project, Olivia was able to talk through her design decisions and how this project came together.

Walking into the kitchen, your eyes are immediately drawn to the large curved Super White Dolomite kitchen island and splashback. The island bench provides a centrepiece in the kitchen, with the deep navy grey cabinetry bringing out the subtle grey blue hues of the stone. Further highlighting the beauty of the natural stone, polished plaster has been used to clad the sides of the island bench and the sides of the rangehood. The beautiful texture of the plaster accentuates the veining and depth of the Super White. This ultimately makes the kitchen the focal point of the home and draws people into this central gathering place.

This particular Super White Dolomite benchtop not only showcases shades of grey, white and blue, but also features flecks of a blush pink which can be quite rare. These patches of pinks throughout the stone bring a sense of warmth to the kitchen which has been continued throughout the home with soft pink light pendants in both the kitchen and the front of the home.

The butler’s pantry uses the same design elements as the kitchen to create a consistent theme that connects the two spaces. With deep rich grey cabinetry with navy undertones and a Super White Dolomite benchtop, this room elicits the same feelings and emotions as the kitchen. Despite being cozy this space holds its own in terms of design and ensures that it isn’t lost in the other beautiful rooms that are found within the home.

The master ensuite design centres around the superb Verde Oceania marble, used as both the bathroom vanity and feature wall, for a unique look that is sure to get everyone talking. The waves of greens, blacks and whites in this natural stone resemble the natural beauty of the ocean enhancing the space and creating an atmosphere of luxury and refinement.

The fixtures and fittings used, specifically the bronze accents, door hardware and lighting in the main ensuite also complement the Verde Oceania Marble bringing out its natural beauty. The Tuscan bronze tapware adds a warmth and increased level of detail to the ensuite, with the taps featuring a small insert of the same Verde Oceania Marble. Similar attention to detail can be seen in the green bow door handles on the cabinetry, and the deep green wall sconce, which all come together to create an oasis for the homeowners.

The utilisation of rich colours and textures flowing throughout the home creates a warm family environment. Throughout this project, Olivia Cirocco and GIA Renovations have helped in creating a space that showcases the family’s personality whilst also remaining the perfect mix of contemporary style and practicality for a young family.

Throughout this project Olivia Cirocco from GIA Renovations, worked with CDK Stone to make this project a reality.
